Why You Should Have Your Air Ducts Cleaned
At first it might seem unnecessary to have the air ducts cleaned in your home, because it is not something we see daily. Like the popular saying “Out of sight, Out of mind!” But this should not stay out of mind!
Ductwork? And Why I Should Care:
Ductwork circulates the air throughout your home from the furnaces or AC’s. Fresh air is pushed through the supply vents and circulated back into the return vents. Usually ductwork is made of metal, aluminum flex, fiberglass, or plastics. They are usually round or rectangular depending on how it was routed through the home to properly supply and return air.
The only place you are most likely to see ductwork exposed, is in the ceilings or walls- usually in the basement or the attic of your home. (Out of sight!)
If the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system is not properly maintained, over time the ductwork will accumulate dust, dirt, dander from pets, debris, and different other airborne particles. It’s been proven that the average house can collect up to 40 pounds every year. Dirty air ducts can cause your HVAC system to work harder and operating less efficiently- meaning it expends more energy.
